| Edinburgh Airport started life as a First World War aerodrome and was run by the RAF who launched the first Edinburgh to London shuttle in the early 1940s. The BAA bought the Airport in 1971 and it was officially opened as Edinburgh Airport several years later.
Today Edinburgh airport is Scotland’s capital airport and over 50 airlines fly to a variety of destinations across Europe as well as North America. Over 9 million passengers used the airport in 2009 with numbers expected to reach 26 million by 2030. |
